Fast Racing Neo – Subsonic League with Bliss (HD Game-Play)

FAST Racing Neo hits the Nintendo eShop for Wii U on December 10th and we’ve taken a look a the early single player Championship levels to see how it stacks up against classic titles such as F-Zero and Wipeout.

The inspiration is certainly there, with anti-gravity racers and crazy tracks in wild futuristic environments, this is certainly not just another Kart racer. Even with the introduction of anti-gravity in Mario Kart 8, FAST Racing Neo feels like a very different beast, where the focus is very much on speed.

The vehicle and level design makes the game stand out from the crowd, especially on the Wii U, where games can often feel a lot more whimsicle. FAST Racing Neo is definitely a more serious racer, but it maintains that arcade feel and accessibility.

With single-player, local four player multiplayer and eight player online multiplayer, FAST Racing Neo is shaping up to be a staple racer for Wii U owners for the forseeable future.

Vehicles:
– Kamagori
– Bliss (tested)
– Ziro
– Spaarc
– Fulcon
– Xisle
– Mueller
– Willard
– Rochdale
– Zvil

Tracks (Subsonic League):
– Scorpio Circuit
– Alpine Trust
– Mueller Pacific
– Chuoko City

Last Fight – Arcade Cabinate Hands-On (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)

If you remember Capcom’s Power Stone series, or indeed Final Fight, then this is for you. Lastfight picks up where these games left off while adding in narrative and characters inspired from the French comic book Lastman,

The frantic fighting action was underlined in our demo session with the game running on an old school arcade cabinet. It offers a full list of 10 characters from which four players pick to fight in arena style battles.

Lastfight is planned for release on PC and all consoles in 2016. It looks fantastic not least because the art is by French artist Bastien Vives.

Giant Cop – Gameplay Interview (PC, iOS)

Giant Cop has a simple premise. You play a god sized cop tasked with keeping the peace in Micro City.

The first thing that strikes you about the game though is the art style. It feels like you are playing in a 70’s police show. There’s a disco aesthetic throughout.

Navigation on PC is through the mouse with the player being able to zoom in and out much like Sim City. Unlike that game though the focus here is about detecting crime rather than growing the city.

Progressing through all manner of arrests grants you both money and new equipment. Gain a police car and you can make arrests on the go.

Slightly strangely you can also buy additional laws that you can then arrest more citizens for. At one point in the demo we dragged a citizen into a bar who came out drunk and was then promptly arrested.

As you play the city will change in response to your performance of the game. The whole environment is clickable and interactive so the space invites the player to explore and investigate the city further.

It’s planned primarily for PC but has also been tested on tablet. Certainly it looks like it would be a good fit for any touch screen. I asked whether the Vita might be another platform, and that seemed a possibility too.
