Terraria 3DS – Game-Play on New 3DS

We have a look at some direct footage of Terraria 3DS. On the screen we can see the building, Inventory, Map and Mining screens.

Terraria can appear to be a simple 2D sandbox like Minecraft, however there is much more to the game than that. Thousands of items to collect and craft, a stronger sense of progression and story have seen the game rise rapidly in popularity.

In Cologne’s Gamescom video-game expo last week the game was shown on the Nintendo 3DS and has been well received. It makes good use of the handheld’s two screens, 3D visuals and stylus controls.

Angry Birds 2 – Characters, Images, Analysis

Here’s the announcement we’ve waited over 6 years and 14 Angry Birds spin-offs for: “Angry Birds 2″.

Angry Birds 2 is announced as the first official sequel in over six years.

The first Angry Birds game was released on an unsuspecting world in 2009. Of course it stormed to the top of the charts and has since then been downloaded more than 2 billion times.

Finland-based Rovio Entertainment revealed the information about Angry Birds 2 today, via their invite to events in San Francisco on July 28 and New York on July 29th.

Having dipped their two in the Toys to Life genre with the Telepods toys, it will be interesting to see how Rovio take on the likes of Skylanders Superchargers, Disney Infinity 3.0 and Lego Dimensions with this big new game.

Either way, the addition of the number “2” to the Angry Birds title shouldn’t be underestimated. This could tie in with the Angry Birds movie, and the Lego Angry Birds kits announced at Comic Con.

Rovio have avoided doing this through 14 different Angry Birds titles, each of which could easily have been numbers: Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds Go! and Angry Birds Star Wars.

The poster teases a “bigger, badder, birdier” experience which could mean anything. Certainly, the announcement will signall a significant advancement in gameplay, perhaps a level designer as has been made popular in Minecraft and Disney Infinity of late.

Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds will be keen to see this Angry Birds 2 improve profits that recent dropped 73% in 2014.

Let’s Play LEGO Worlds Part 2 – Son shows dad the ropes

On the surface Lego Worlds might look like just another Minecraft clone, but it’s clear that TTGames are trying to infuse their game with something a little different. While Minecraft presents itself as a blank canvas to do with as you please, Lego Worlds has a little of that personality that is so evident in all of the standard story driven adventures we all so familiar with.

While our first experience of the game seemed very limited. Second time out, in a different world, we got a very different experience. With more land to explore came more things to find, characters to encounter and enemies to fight. While the game has all the tools you might need to build your own world, perhaps the experience of exploring it is the most compelling.

Walking over a hilltop to find a Dragon, then discovering you can fly it, is quite a rush. That experience isn’t alone though as almost everything you discover in your world brings squeals of delight, both from children and adults alike. We found a lego pistol in a treasure chest in an igloo of all places, but it came in handy when we had to fight off polar bears and zombies. It’s all quite random, but so much fun.

LEGO Worlds – Dad Tested

Lego Worlds brings the now familiar crafting experience made famous by Minecraft to the family favourite Lego bricks on PC via Steam Early Access. Early Access games, it should be noted, are not the finished product, so the experience you get with Lego Worlds may vary significantly, with our first 20 minutes with it being equal parts fun, equal parts frustrating.

For those wanting to dive in now, there are plenty of easy to use crafting tools to quickly change your world, with the promise of even more to come. While something like Minecraft focuses on that single block by block building experience. Lego Worlds offers something else, with tools that allow you to make massive changes to your World with just a few clicks.

Graphically the appearance of the game will vary depending on your hardware, with our test laptop having to dial down a few settings to compensate for the resolution we needed to use. However, if you’re a fan of Minecraft, graphics aren’t exactly top of the list when it comes to a great gaming experience. Certainly there’s enough here to keep you interested, but more development is needed to know the existing crafting champion off it’s blocky throne.
