Minecraft for families (2 of 3): Introducing Mods, Installing, Downloading

Mods are files, which when added to Minecraft (with the help of Magic Launcher http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939149-launcher-magic-launcher-117-mods-options-profiles-news/, and Forge 10.0.818 http://files.minecraftforge.net) allow players to fundamentally change the way the base game is played. We recap how best to install these mods to the game, recapping how Forge and Magic Launcher work for those who missed our first video, before looking at 4 of these utilities.
Our first experiment was with Zan’s minimap 1.6.2 (http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/zans-minimap/), a tool that adds an additional map to the game. This helps player’s tracks their movement above and below ground, as well as leaving markers and fast travel points.
Timber (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/119361-162-timber-cut-trees-down-in-one-swing/#timber), was another useful mod that adds some extra utility. Using any axe, Timber allows you to instantly fell a tree by hitting the bottom block, really speeding up the early stages of the game.
Our personal favourite was the Instant Massive Structures Mod (http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/11-instant-massive-structures-mod-v10/), which by creating a base block from the right components allows huge buildings to be instantly created from a single block.
Finally we look at the Dragon Block C Universal mod (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1501114-162forge-dragon-ball-z-mod-dragon-block-c-v114-with-rpg-systemsplanmpwip/). This completely alters the game, adding a range of special moves, a power meter, and a new look to the world, all of which is especially entertaining for fans of the Dragon Ball Z cartoon.
